FREDERICK COOPER
” HELIOS ” TABLE LAMP
DIMENSIONS: 31″ x 16″
Frederick Cooper lamps have been around for almost a century! A designer by trade he soon began producing some of the most elegant and tasteful lamps for interior decorators to use in their masterpiece interiors! Based in Chicago, his furnishings went on to travel and adorn the finest interiors in the world.
Offered is one of the coveted “Helios” Greek Revival styled table lamps with stately lines, a rare double face base and with gilded accents.
This lamp is based on the Greek legend of Helios! Helios, the god of the Sun, is the guardian of oaths and the god of sight. Frederick Cooper designers tapped ancient history, realized a lamp is Helios’ purvey and that his light permits us to see!
So Helios is enshrined on the base of this lamp, beneficent rays surrounding his head! A folk or urban tale (crafted likely by some clever Frederick Cooper designer) has it that the owner of this lamp is blessed not only with great sight – but inner vision that sees what others cannot. As a result, these “Helios” lamps became particularly coveted Cooper designs!
Now, you seldom see them change hands in the open market. Kings, tycoons and captains of industry all seek possession of the Frederick Cooper Helios lamps! This lamp is fit for the finest interiors and dwellings!
The Frederick Cooper label is still attached to the original socket. This lamp is in very fine vintage condition! Light tarnish to metal surfaces. Light wear to fabric pyramid shade. A single socket provides powerful illumination. This lamp displays marvelously!
This gorgeous lamp will make a sublime addition to your NY penthouse, Brentwood mansion or Rancho Sante Fe estate!
