This unique and large solid bronze bowl is from 19th century France. Tazza bowls were once a common feature of dining sets, used as a decorative serving dish. An intricate motif of the Greek legend of Pandora graces the center of the bowl and has a fantastic patina. The artist French Ferdinand Levillain signed and dated it 1866 in the center of the scene, making this an earlier work of his. The bowl is elevated by an impressively detailed base with lyre shaped engravings and griffin heads. Make sure to view the detailed images to get a closer look.
